Happy Maundy Thursday New Life,
Today is Maundy Thursday. Now some of you may have heard that before but are not sure just what that means and why and if we should celebrate that. So just a quick background; we believe that Thursday is the day that Jesus celebrated his The Last Supper with his disciples. While doing so he washed their feet and then told them they should do the same for each other. He then gave them a new command, Love one another; just as I have love you, you also are to love one another. (John13:34). The word Maundy is a shortened form the Latin word “mandatum” which means command, and that is where we get Maundy Thursday. The day Jesus gave us a new commandment. I look forward to the day we have a Maundy Thursday Service, a service that will include communion and foot washing.

This Friday night is our Good Friday service. I know it is easy to run late sometimes but please be a little early. We will start right at 6 and receive the sacraments of communion within the first few minutes of the service. Also, INVITE A FRIEND. The service will only last 40-45 minutes. Then invite them back for Easter!
At the end of this service we need to leave the sanctuary quickly as House of Prayer will be getting ready for their service soon after ours. I am looking forward to our time of worship and remembrance tomorrow night. Let me leave with you a quote from Oswald Chambers:
All of heaven is interested in the cross of Christ, hell afraid of it, while men are the only ones to ignore its meaning.
So many times we want to skip ahead to Easter and Good News of the resurrection. I like that too, but let’s not ignore the meaning of the cross, for without the cross there is no Sunday. Let’s remember what Christ has done for you and me so that Sunday morning is even more glorious!
May God’s face shine upon you and His grace abound,
Blessings,
Pastor Andy
