It’s Saturday New Life!
It’s the beginning of the weekend and I hope that means, for most of you, it is the beginning of a time of rest. But don’t get too comfortable because there is a lot getting ready to happen at New Life in the next few weeks. This might surprise a few of you, but school is just around the corner. Oklahoma City schools start back in just a little over 2 weeks, while most other schools start the following week. That being said, we want to help those families out by giving them school supplies. In just one week we are going to host a School Supply give away followed by our movie night. If you want to donate some school supplies here is a link to the list so we ensure we don’t duplicate donations:
If you have questions or trouble using the sign-up list please contact Cheri Ketchum.
But this isn’t the only thing that is happening, NO THERE IS MORE!!!!!!
We are needing volunteers for the After School Bible Club. We will be teaming with Oak Cliff to start one in Bodine Elementary and with House of Prayer to start one in Caesar Chavez. These will occur on Tuesday and Thursday. Maybe you will be one that would say I can do both or just one. Either way, it will make a huge difference in a child’s life. There will be a training day at the church on Saturday, August 5th from 9 am to 3 pm, by the group that is sponsoring the Bible Club called In the Gap. Please let Pastor Andy know if you will be able to attend and if you are interested in volunteering for the Bible Club. I am so excited for this life-changing opportunity for the community.
I want to note that there will be no Men’s Breakfast or Ladies Brunch due to the training for August.
One more item that should be noted, I met with the new Early Head Start Program that was built in front of MetroTech. They are looking to have their first class start at the end of August. If there is anyone interested in working with children who has experience they are hiring. That being said, what a beautiful place they have. I believe we will have many opportunities to walk with the families in that center once they get going. More to come in the next month.
I am excited to give you a glimpse into the series we are going to begin at church. It is called The Devil Wears: Unmasking Temptation. God gives us good things but many times our enemy, Satan, will mask them and distort them and instead of being a blessing they become a problem in our life. Looking forward to sharing God’s word over the next several weeks and how it applies to our lives today.
I pray that I see each one of you tomorrow. May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.
Blessings,
Pastor Andy
